My New Favourite Foundation

It was unfortunate that my foundation ran out the same week that I had a horrid allergic rash all over my face. I had naively thought that it would be safe to use 'Loreal factor 50+ face suncream' on my actual face-not so. I found myself in Bobbi Brown sheepishly lurking around the foundations with a bulbous chin and red rashed forehead.

I had intended to buy the same shade 00 Albaster in the oil free formula rather than the moisture rich which I had just ran out of, lighter for summer I thought to myself. The first job was to convince the sales girl that I was suffering an allergic reaction and my skin wasn't always so crusty

'Babe, no way do you need oil free'
'But usually my face is usually not dry'
'But look at the skin around your eyes'
'It's not usually like this! I had an ALLERGIC REACTION!!!'
'That's ok babe, we all have break outs at certain times'

So forth, so forth....
She actually called me 'Babe'

Eventually we abandoned the battle and settled upon a happy medium, the new 'Skin Foundation' was supposed to be designed for oily T-zone and dry cheeks, sounds exactly like my skin so I took one and fled Selfridges with my rashy face.

This stuff is absolutely amazing! The pump makes it very easy to dispense and it has a very light consistency; when I put some of the back of my hand it was actually runny unlike the gloopy usuals. I feared that it might be too sheer but on application the coverage is unbelievable, so light yet almost as effective as a concealer. It looks natural enough for day, yet build up with another application and you are set for night.

I love this, and will have a hard time to be convinced to buy elsewhere in future. Highly recommended.

Seems InStyle love it too!

Hello there

It's been too long since the last post, but with no internet at home and busy busy work days I have had little opportunity to tap out the blogs. Fortunately, Virgin internet and TV is arriving next Saturday at number 13 so I shall be writing regularly once more.

In my absence I have been thinking about the content of this blog... to label it fashion would most probably be misleading as I am not a fashionable person- this weekend the appearance of the sun sent me spinning into a dilemma, as my wardrobe just does not work without black tights and my legs are not suitable for daylight!! Anyway, I think from now on I shall concentrate on beauty, although I care too much about books and theater and parties and shoes to write about beauty alone it shall probably be the main bulk of posts. I think....who knows! I may be put off beauty by the necessity to regularly photograph my face. We shall see.

A Mini Flower Bomb

How delightful! Viktor and Rolf have launched a new mini version of Flower Bomb that is half the size and half the price of the standard sized bottle. This is such a great idea! I was after this perfume at Christmas but didn't get it in the end (shortage of department stores in the wild west of Wales for my Mother). I have so many perfume bottles littering my mantelpiece that I get 'the guilt' whenever I am lingering in the fragrance section spraying scent up my arms and madly shaking sample cards...but I could be forgiven for buying this

Smaller bottle = quicker to get through and easy on the wallet. Also, it is perfect for handbags, I would probably stash one in my massive tote that is lugged around London daily. An emergency spritz would be most handy!

Peachy or is it?

Over my morning tea with (disgusting) powdered milk my msn pinged

Tom says:
omg...

Tom says:
I dont know if you saw this

Tom says:
I've just been filled with all kinds of disgust

What had filled poor Tom with disgust? It seems like Peaches Geldolf has began her stint for Ultimo. I read about this awhile back in some Metro rubbish I suspect; the paparazzi caught Peach on the beach topless and apparently after seeing the photos Ultimo wanted to snap her up for her 'womanly figure'.

I quite like the styling in these images, the bows are cure with her extensions. I'm not sure really, brands obviously believe Peaches will add an edge to their products with her 'rebellious' tattoos/party lifestyle etc etc, but does anyone actually inspire to look like Peaches?!

What do you think on the photos?
You can see the rest here

Now back to work, before someone spots me editing pictures of Peaches Geldolf in her underwear on my super massive computer screen

All About Lips

We are in the process of moving flats, we haven't gone far at all and our postcode has only changed by the last two letters, yet it is still stressful business. Oh, and the new abode does not have internet, I have tried to connect to mysterious unlocked wireless networks to no avail...basically I have become a lunchtime/free wi-fi blogger

I wanted to express love of a lip butter though. When a 'tween' my friends and I spent much time in The Body Shop buying £1 miniature tangerine bubble baths and animal shaped soaps, but it is not somewhere I frequent these days. However, via the bloggy world I heard about this product, 'Tantalising Lip Butter' and decided to be a sheep and try it out.

It is in association with MTV with proceeds going to their Staying Alive aids awareness programme, and in fact when I bought it the shop assistant recited this in a monotone robotic tone (I imagine it is selling well causing much repetition). It smells wonderfully fruity and gives the lips a pale sheen; very moisturising too!

I managed to lose it on the 2nd day after purchase whilst trekking home from Brick Lane but will be going back for another, even though I would normally consider £5 excessive for a lip balm

Also lip wise, I am intrigued by the MAC 'A Rose Romance' collection and the 'See Thru Lip Colour'. For awhile now I have been looking for a colour giving gloss with no shimmer or glitter, basically a liquid lipstick??! This looks like it might be just that so I will be popping into MAC soon to test these on my hand.

Sorry it is a titchy picture...

Boots- to buy or not to buy?

This is not very hot off the press, seeing as the even occurred almost 2 weeks ago and every self-respecting blogger has already posted on it...but I have just uploaded a fresh picture batch and would like to comment on these Emma Cook for Topshop boots from the A/W 09 collection.

I went along to the Arcadia press day and, like most, fell in love with most of the Topshop offerings, there really are some good things to come! I took a snap of these Emma Cook boots and have been debating how much I want them ever since...

I LOVE LOVE LOVED the first collaboration boots, they came in black, with a chunky heel and creeper laces and generally boasted everything I desire in a good shoe. Of course they sold out. Then came the peach and white for S/S 09- I actually saw these in store!!! And whilst they were not quite as amazing as the black, they were still something I wanted quite alot, but sadly it was the end of the month and I had a mere £10 to my name. Then they sold out.

Now the heel has morphed into a wedge, and the fabric into animal print. I'm not really sure...I love zebras, I really do, once I may have even proclaimed them my 'favourite animal' (a big decision when you are nine), yet do I want a zebra on my feet?

Yes I know this trend is coming in a la Ashish and other, but still I am wondering whether £150 could be better spent for me. Perhaps I should just take a bus to Camden and buy real creepers with the goths instead of hanging around Topshop querying Emma Cook deliveries again?

I'm getting these though

Obsessive Compulsive

I mainly use YouTube to get my America's Next Top Model fix in fuzzy 10 minute clips, but I occasionally get obsessed by make-up tutorials and watch people applying crazy eyeshadows late into the night..it was one such time when I was watching MissChievous demonstrating a vampy look that I heard of an amazing product, Lip Tar by Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

It looks like this:

And is described as so,

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, OCC Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment, so a little goes a very, very long way. An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, OCC Lip Tars come in concise range of colors (and black and white!) for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

It looks great in her tutorial, a really vibrant, viscous (thats a geography term came in handy) combination between lippie and gloss. Even better is the range of colours! I would take a black, and a nude and a violet; I am also strangely intrigued by the white, I would love to slather on some of my chalk white goth foundation and finish with a freaky white lip. I'm not sure if the ship internationally, but even if they did I doubt I could afford the tax charges...maybe I could trick an American pal into sending me some, there really is nothing similar on the UK market that I know of
